I was born and raised in Ribeira Grande, São Miguel Açores until my family immigrated to Montreal when I was eight years old. Navigating two completely different identities has been a journey.
 
While I’ve built a life in Montreal that I love, there’s always been a lingering feeling, a sense that another version of me exists somewhere in the Açores islands, a version that never fully came to be.
Now, as a mother, that nostalgia for my roots feels stronger.

The Açores islands are gaining recognition like never before, often compared to the jewels of Hawaii and celebrated for their natural beauty. But there’s more to São Miguel Açores, than what meets the eye. I want to share a different perspective, not only for visitors but for Açoreans living abroad, curious about their heritage.
